Roof Repair
Roofing for homes and businesses across New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties.
A roof leak is one of those problems that rarely gets better by waiting. The good news is that a leak does not automatically mean you need a whole new roof. Many problems can be repaired when they are found early and the rest of the roofing system is still in good condition.
Affordable Roofing & Construction LLC provides roof repair in Wilmington and throughout New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender Counties. We inspect the problem area, look at the surrounding roofing system and explain what we believe is causing the issue before recommending a repair.
Common roof repairs we handle
- Missing, creased or lifted shingles
- Leaks around vents, chimneys and wall flashing
- Worn or damaged pipe boots
- Valley and transition leaks
- Storm and wind damage
- Localized roof deterioration
- Commercial roof leaks and membrane repairs
Finding the source of a roof leak
The spot on your ceiling is not always directly below the opening in the roof. Water can run along decking, rafters or other framing before it becomes visible inside the house. That is why simply sealing the area above the stain can miss the real problem.
We look at shingles or roof covering, flashing, penetrations, valleys and nearby roof transitions. On some roofs, the problem is obvious. On others, the surrounding area has to be checked carefully to trace the path of the water.
Storm and wind damage
Wilmington and the surrounding coastal counties regularly see strong thunderstorms, tropical systems and wind-driven rain. A storm can lift or crease shingles, loosen ridge caps, damage flashing or expose weak roof edges without creating an immediate interior leak.
After severe weather, look for visible changes from the ground. Missing shingles, debris on the roof, loose trim or a section that suddenly looks different are all reasons to have the roof checked. If damage is limited, a repair may be enough. If the storm exposed widespread deterioration, we will explain the options honestly.
Repair or replacement?
There is no useful answer without looking at the whole roof. A newer roof with one damaged area is very different from an older roof with leaks in several places and a history of previous repairs.
We consider:
- The age and overall condition of the roofing system
- How large the damaged area is
- Whether the same problem has been repaired before
- The condition of decking and flashing
- Whether matching materials are reasonably available
If repair is the sensible choice, that is what we recommend. If another patch would only delay a larger problem, we can explain what a roof replacement would involve.
Roof repair for coastal North Carolina homes
Coastal roofs deal with heat, humidity, wind-driven rain and salt exposure. These conditions can be especially hard on exposed fasteners, flashing, sealants and roof edges. Small weaknesses often show up during the kind of sideways rain we get during stronger storms.
Regular inspections are especially useful after major weather events or when you notice a new stain, shingle in the yard or change in the roofline.
Residential and commercial roof repair
We repair both residential and commercial roofing systems. Commercial roofs may involve low-slope membranes, rooftop equipment, drainage or penetration details that are different from a typical shingle roof. The repair should match the roofing system rather than using the same approach on every building.

Roof repair FAQs
Can a roof be repaired if it is leaking?
Often, yes. The answer depends on the cause of the leak and the condition of the rest of the roof.
Should I have the roof checked after a storm even if I do not see a leak?
If the storm produced strong winds or visible damage nearby, an inspection can be worthwhile. Roofing damage can exist before water shows up inside.
Do you repair roofs before recommending replacement?
Yes. We evaluate whether a repair is practical first. We only recommend replacement when the overall condition of the roof makes that the better long-term option.
